Star Wars x EVIAN Bottled Water

Being a huge Star Wars fan myself, I would love to see a collaboration between George Lucas and Evian water. But alas this is just a concept design by an art student . Awesome work though.

"If watching the complete  saga on Blu-ray has taught us anything, it’s that the classic films’ beloved characters would look great as design concepts on special bottles of Evian water. Fortunately for us, art student Mandy Brencys took the fanciful notion and made it into reality by actually designing glass bottles of Evian to resemble C-3P0, Chewbacca, R2-D2, Darth Vader and a Storm Trooper. Part of a student design project, these Evian bottles sadly won’t be coming to a store near you, nor to ones in galaxies far, far away. We just hope Mandy’s instructors at Hamburg’s Miami Ad School gave her extra points for not including any characters from the prequel trilogy."

Turnkey Projects - Start Your Own Bottled Water Factory for Less Than US $100,000

Are you tired of being just an employee? Have you had enough of marketing brands that belong to large multinationals only to have them turn around and hand over representation to a different distributor? Be your own boss and invest in your own brands today!

Start Your Own Bottled Water Factory for Less Than US $100,000

Project Description

Bottled purified water is a commodity in most markets today. Numerous brands compete for a piece of the market share and the most successful are not always of the big companies with multinational backing. Rather in this line having a unique brand, good marketing skills, and solid distribution can make any brand a firm contender.

We offer a cost effective solution that allows any investor to own and operate their own factory to treat and bottle purified water under their own unique brand name. In addition the investor will also have the facilities to blow their own PET bottles. Our team will assist you to design your own bottle and labels for your brand of purified water.

By setting up this facility the investor also exposes themselves to a variety of expansion projects that the PAE team has already put in place. Once the line for mineral water is running smoothly the factory could expand to produce its own preforms and caps, or with simple additional machinery you could manufacture and package juices and/or carbonated soft drinks.

The following production line has been designed to yield approximately 2000 bottles of mineral water per hour, in 500ml size.

                                      Factory Theoretical Output

GreenBottle UK to Launch Paper Bottle in 2012

UK based company GreenBottle is set to launch its latest invention, the PAPER BOTTLE as early as 2012. Experts say the introduction of the new PAPER BOTTLE could revolutionize the beverage packaging industry worldwide by slashing its carbon footprint. Big claims but we have set to see the packaging massed produced for industrial consumption.

Martin Myerscough’s invention could help rid the planet of an estimated 30 billion plastic bottles and billions more glass ones that are produced every year – 6.5 million of them in the UK alone.

GreenBottles use less than a third of the plastic of conventional milk bottles, with a much lower carbon footprint. The paper bottle itself is compostable, can be recycled several times and decomposes in just a matter of weeks.
The packaging is made of paper with a thin plastic lining and was the brainchild of Suffolk inventor Martin Myerscough following a chance conversation with a waste tip supervisor worried about the growing and seemingly insoluble problem of plastic bottle waste.
The company, based in Woodbridge in Suffolk, is now close to unveiling new packaging technology it has developed to create even greener and cheaper GreenBottles.
This machinery is truly innovative and totally proprietary to GreenBottle.  It will enable the paper bottle technology to be produced in industrial quantities, and cost effectively versus existing packaging.

Do You Have a Google+ Business Profile

"If businesses can contain themselves for just a few more months, they’ll have much better Google+ tools than the ones that currently exist.
In fact, Google will be unveiling specially tweaked profiles with analytics and more sophisticated sharing options, all coming during (or shortly after) Q3 2011.
Businesses that don’t have the patience to wait for those features and instead jump into Google+ with a personal account will suffer a rather painful consequence; they won’t be able to migrate that personal accounts to a business profile. Google isn’t building a migration tool, and it says switching accounts manually could get messy."
Read the rest of the article here: Venture Beat

Having accoutns with both Facebook and Google with business profiles, I am excited to see what tools will be offered by both companies to improve our online marketing. So far Google has the edge with a direct tie to their own search engine. But will Facebook start to function as a search engine of its own? That would be pretty handy. Getting in early will only keep you ahead of the game, so get on board I figure.

Will China Dominate Global Packaging by 2012

China is aiming to be the biggest packaging producer in the world by 2012, according to a recent study.

MATSUI Inverter Provides Energy Savings Up To 75%

Inverter drives applied to a dehumidifying dryer and a mold chiller system have enabled energy savings of up to 75% and 57%, respectively, according to supplier Matsui MFG., Co. (Osaka, Japan).

These savings were put into perspective at the Fanuc (At the Foot of Mt. Fuji, Japan) stand at the recent IPF show in Japan, where real-time monitoring of energy consumption at its stand revealed that peripheral machinery, including mold temperature controllers, dryers and robots, consumed close to double the energy of the servomotors on its all-electric injection molding machines.

Packaged Coconut Water Growing More Popular

Packaged Coconut Water is no longer just a fad and is now, competing for supermarket shelf space. Health benefits of drinking coconut water include "lowering cholesterol, preventing diabetes, and boosting your metabolism and immune system".

Source: LAX Magazine (http://s.tt/13uTe)

Check out this comparison of 5 american brands:

"This potassium-rich beverage has been consumed in parts of the world with tropical climates for ages, though usually from fresh coconuts. The ubiquitous varieties in the States comes boxed or bottled with the juice (and sometimes chunks of coconut meat), extracted from imported young coconuts. But which brand is best? We tasted 10 brands of coconut water to see which top our list flavor-wise. Nutritionist Sandra Frank then helped us figure what three brands are the best for you. Find our winners after the jump."

Vita Coco appears to be the most popular brand with Madonna and Rihanna amongst thier celebrity spokes people.

Vita Coco® is the brand that started America’s craze for fresh coconut water. In the U.S.Vita Coco is sold at over 20,000 retailers including Whole Foods Market, GNC, Kroger, Publix, Ralph’s, Stop & Shop/Giant, Costco select Wal-Mart stores and many chain and independent groceries. It is also sold in most major U.S. airports and university campuses, as well as online at Amazon.com.

Turn Plastic Back to Oil?

The BLEST company from Japan introduced a machine back in 2007 that they claim can revert waste plastic back to its oil form, without the use of flames or excessive gas emissions. The claim was revisited recently by Our World 2.0. Check out the excerpt below.

Though Japan has much improved its “effective utilization” rate over the years to 72% in 2006, that leaves 28% of plastic to be buried in landfills or burned. According to Plastic Waste Management Institute data, “effective utilization” includes not just the 20% that is actually recycled, but also 52% that is being incinerated for “energy recovery” purposes, i.e., generating heat or electric power.

“If we burn the plastic, we generate toxins and a large amount of CO2. If we convert it into oil, we save CO2 and at the same time increase people’s awareness about the value of plastic garbage,” says Akinori Ito, CEO of Blest.

Blest’s conversion technology is very safe because it uses a temperature controlling electric heater rather than flame. The machines are able to process polyethylene, polystyrene and polypropylene (numbers 2-4) but not PET bottles (number 1). The result is a crude gas that can fuel things like generators or stoves and, when refined, can even be pumped into a car, a boat or motorbike. One kilogram of plastic produces almost one liter of oil. To convert that amount takes about 1 kilowatt of electricity, which is approximately ¥20 or 20 cents’ worth.

3D Printer for Plastic Products

3D printers have been on the market for some time now but have only recently been better adapted for personal use. Units are also less expensive now and more affordable for individual hobbyists, not just manufacturers or corporations.

3D printers can be used to build small plastic machine parts, sculptures, toys, models, etc. There are numerous brands and models available that use either plaster or resins to print 3D models from AUTO-CAD or other 3D rendering software. These models are not made by cutting away materials as a CNC machining tool would do, rather the models are printed or extruded in layers. The printers can print complex designs.

This model from UP! costs only $2000 in China and the material for printing casts about $50 per kg. This video demonstrates how simple it is to make a small container with a threaded closure in only 45 minutes. The system utilizes the extrusion method.

3D Systems has a very impressive range of printers for personal and commercial use. Personal printers start at about 10K USD. The ProJet HD 3000 prints precision, durable plastic parts ideal for functional testing, design communication, rapid manufacturing, rapid tooling and more. It features selectable resolution choices for speed and quality. This is for commercial use and 3D Systems also offers great after sales support and raw materials for printing. This machine is much larger than the model from UP! As you can see in this video, the 3D printer can be used to make compex parts with moving elements like hinges, gears, and even bearings.

Z Corporation offers color 3D printers and scanners for commercial use. In a higher price bracket, these machines are much faster and larger than the less expensive brands. The finishing of the product is also far superior and the details are mind blowing. Z Corp has by far, the best 3D printer on the market with the largest printing bed for larger or multiple prints.

Rapid Prototyping

Leading product designers use our prototyping machines to accelerate the design process and bring products to market sooner. Applications include:

  • Concept Models - Get early design feedback, improve communication, and test ergonomics
  • Functional Testing - Verify designs for form, fit and function prior to full-scale production; plus reduce costly modifications to production tooling
  • Finite Element Analysis - Produce prototypes displaying color finite element analysis data right on the part. Improve collaboration among project teams, and identify design flaws earlier
  • Presentation Models - Communicate clearly with peers and clients, and perform focus group testing
  • Packaging Development - Streamline the design process for glass and plastic packaging used in consumer products, healthcare, chemicals, beverages, and automotive products

3D printers have reduced the cost and make it so much easier to generate product prototypes. The finish of the products on the cheaper models make be slightly rough and require to be sanded down but technology is moving fast across the board insuring more accurate, faster, and cheaper machines will soon be on the market.
